Where are my tax documents?
Many of us have eagerly awaited the start of the new year. It is a time for many to celebrate the accomplishments of the previous year and consider what we may want to learn, accomplish, or tackle in the upcoming months. The start of the year is also a signal that tax season is right around the corner and we know that you would like to start collecting all your tax documents as soon as possible. Unfortunately, some tax forms can be delayed for various reasons, so we want you to understand this process better and know what to expect.
LPL Financial (where we hold your accounts) began issuing 1099 Consolidated Tax Statements on January 22nd and will continue to issue these on a weekly basis through March 12th. Mailing the 1099 Consolidated Tax Statements in weekly phases will ensure that all IRS deadlines are met with an additional goal to reduce the need to mail corrected versions.
Some of your accounts may hold a type of investment that could be subject to income reclassification during the first few months of the year. Those investments could include Real Estate Investment Trusts, foreign securities, and municipal bonds, to name a few. Due to this possible income reclassification, some accounts will not receive their tax documents until later in the mailing schedule.
Once the tax documents for your accounts are issued, they will be available on Account View, the online web portal to access your accounts. If you do not have access to Account View, please reach out to our office by emailing email@example.com or calling us at 303-534-9328. Accessing your account via Account View will give you access to the tax forms as soon as they are issued with the option to securely download any forms, if needed, to pass along to your tax preparer. The tax documents will also be sent to you in the mail once they are available.
As always, if we can be of assistance, please reach out to any member of our team. We appreciate and look forward to the opportunity to serve you.
